Iowa woman charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing sleeping boyfriend

ANKENY, Iowa (KCCI) — A 49-year-old Ankeny woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend while he was sleeping.
Court documents show Melissa Shiffer admitted to officers that she stabbed her boyfriend following an argument between the two.
The victim drove himself to the hospital for treatment, according to court documents.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Shiffer is also facing two counts of domestic abuse.
Her initial court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 13.
