LOUISA, Kentucky (WLKY) — Kentucky State Police says 6-year-old who disappeared days ago has been found.

KSP thanked all agencies and volunteers who helped in the search, but no further details were immediately available.

The boy’s disappearance sparked an Ian Alert in Kentucky on Sunday.

According to KSP, 6-year-old Roman Heilman was last seen on Tadpole Road in Louisa, Kentucky around 4 p.m. that day.

IAN Alerts are designed to help save the lives of children with autism.

It’s named for Ian Sousis, a 9-year-old boy who had autism. He ran away from the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky and drowned in the Ohio River on June 4, 2022.

For unknown reasons, children with autism are drawn to water. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children with autism.

The alert covers gaps between other alerts and will use the same system as the Amber Alert.

A bill passed the legislature and was signed into law by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear to put the alert into practice.
