COCKEYSVILLE, Maryland (WBAL) — Baltimore County detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and two injured in the Cockeysville area late Halloween night.

Police say officers responded to the 10000 block of Greenside Drive shortly before 11 p.m., when a resident told officers he was sitting in his driveway when three masked men approached. Police tell 11 News the suspects brandished a weapon implying a possible robbery.

“Not good at all. It’s a shame. That’s all I can say. It’s a shame,” said Don Wofford, a Cockeysville resident.

Wofford is saddened by a deadly shooting that happened in the 10000 block of Greenside Drive in Cockeysville around 10:40 p.m. on Halloween night. Just hours before, the street was filled with kids trick-or-treating.

“On Halloween night this is a very active neighborhood. There are like 300 kids,” said Monish Gariwala.

Wofford says he heard the shots around 10:40 p.m. but didn’t realize that’s what it was.

“When I heard it, I thought it was fireworks. We have a lot of people setting off fireworks in this neighborhood,” said Wofford.

Police said a man was sitting in his driveway when three men approached him wearing Halloween-style masks. They said the suspects had a gun and threatened the homeowner. That’s when they say the homeowner fired at them with his own gun.

“We were sleeping and I woke up and saw blue lights in the window. So, I got up and saw and there were like 8 or 9 police cars,” said Gariwala.

Police said one suspect, 20-year-old Amon Walker, was found dead nearby. They said the two other suspects were located after they went to local hospitals with injuries.

“I mean thank God it happened later. There were so many kids here,” said Gariwala.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
