OMAHA, Nebraska (KETV) — Methodist Women’s Hospital has launched a program to provide medically tailored meals and support services to patients with high-risk pregnancies who are experiencing food insecurity.

The initiative pairs meal delivery with help from Community Health Workers, who connect patients with resources outside the hospital. The program is designed to support people managing complex pregnancies, including conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, where nutrition can play an important role in maternal and infant health.

Medica presented the hospital with a $100,000 grant Monday to support the program.

“It’s really great when our provider partners come to us with these kind of ideas, thinking outside of the box and being able to provide health equity and meals to mothers when they’re most in need,” said Adam Steffen of Medica.

Medica said it gives approximately $1 million a year to organizations and programs across Nebraska.
