DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (WESH) — A woman was arrested after threatening to shoot President Donald Trump ahead of his visit to Daytona Beach on Friday, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Allison Albro, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff Chitwood said the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Domestic Security Unit and the U.S. Secret Service visited Albro after she posted the threat online Thursday night.

Albro told investigators she was joking, did not have access to a Glock or any other weapon and would never hurt anyone, Chitwood said.

However, Albro was taken to jail and charged with written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device.

The state has filed a motion for pretrial detention for Albro. The judge is holding her on no bond.

Trump is expected to hold a midterm rally event at 7 p.m. at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

On Thursday, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said it would deploy strict security measures in the area ahead of the rally.

Earlier on Friday, surface-to-air missile systems were deployed at Mar-a-Lago and Donald J. Trump International Airport at the request of the U.S. Secret Service.

The systems are designed to defend against aerial threats, including aircraft and drones.

However, officials have not disclosed a specific reason for the deployment.
