ROCHESTER, Minnesota (KIMT) — The Women’s Shelter and Support Center (WSSC) raised more than $100,000 at its annual fundraising event Wednesday at the Mayowood Stone Barn in Rochester.

More than 200 people attended Transforming Lives 2026, which supports services for survivors of domestic violence and their families. The event also marked 50 years of WSSC helping survivors find safety and rebuild their lives.

“We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to show up for survivors,” said Artyce Thomas, executive director of WSSC. “Every gift represents a commitment to ensuring that individuals and families experiencing abuse have somewhere to turn for safety, support and hope. This generosity makes a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.”

The evening honored survivors’ courage and resilience, remembered lives lost to domestic violence and reflected on WSSC’s five decades of work across Southeastern Minnesota. Guests learned about the organization’s expanded shelter and the ongoing work needed to support families.

In January, WSSC opened its new emergency shelter in Rochester, expanding capacity from 34 to 75 beds. The new facility was designed with survivors’ safety, dignity and well-being in mind.

While state funding helped cover construction costs, WSSC says ongoing services depend on community support. Donations fund crisis response, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, supportive housing and community outreach.
