DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) — Hundreds of people gathered for a vigil to honor 25-year-old Luke Miller, a motorcyclist who died in a crash over the weekend.
Miller’s family identified him, though police are still investigating the crash that caused his death.
Luke’s brother, Bret Miller, said seeing the large turnout in Luke’s honor has helped ease the pain of losing him.
“No matter how he met you, who he met, you were family once he knew you. He treated everyone like family. Everyone was special in their own way to him. And he had, like I said, an infectious personality, his laugh. He was very important to everyone,” Bret said.
KCCI learned that Luke was leaving a benefit for another motorcyclist who had been in a collision when the crash occurred. Bret said showing up for others was just the kind of person Luke was.
Following the vigil for Luke Miller, another motorcyclist was critically injured after being hit by a truck in a nearby intersection.
