SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA) – The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Housing America Corporation (HAC) partnered Friday morning for a tree planting event in San Luis, Arizona in recognition of National Day of Service.

The event, which took place at a home under construction on E. San Diego Street, highlighted the importance of community involvement, affordable homeownership and building stronger rural communities.

In addition, the home is being built through the USDA’s Section 502 Direct Loan Program, which helps eligible families achieve homeownership in rural communites.

“The main goal today is for us to get out of the office and to integrate in the community and provide a Day of Service, and in this particular case, we’re here to celebrate with the homeowner and planting this plant out here,” Alesia Stanley, Deputy State Director of USDA.

Stanley said the tree planting activity reflected their shared commitment to supporting rural families, strengthening neighborhoods and creating opportunities for future generations.
