Shepherd’s Inn launches 26th annual win the whole cow fundraiser
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — The Shepherd’s Inn has begun its 26th Annual “Win the Whole Cow” Fundraiser.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win a whole beef along with a full-size freezer. In addition to the grand prize, the raffle features over $5,000 in additional prizes.
“The grand prize is donated by Melaleuca and Riverbend Ranch,” said Julie Zahn, the Executive Director of the Shepherd’s Inn. “So it’s top quality beef. It’s processed by Riverbend. And we also have a freezer. So the grand prize is the whole cow and a freezer.”
All of the money raised goes toward local families. Shepherd’s Inn offers pregnancy support to mothers in the community. They do not provide any medical care or consultation, but offer support programs for new parents.
Their supportive pregnancy and parenting program includes weekly one-on-one counseling sessions to help create a parenting plan. They also give clients baby items such as car seats, swings, diapers, wipes, and much more.
“Often when you have an unplanned pregnancy, you just feel scared, and you’re nervous,” Tara Demkowicz, the Parenting and Pregnancy Counselor, said. “Being able to help people in our community and just see them get excited about their little one being born.”
They also provide a variety of free essentials for new babies and their parents, including formula and diapers. With every class parents attend, they earn points that can be redeemed for items their little ones need. From clothing and toys to baby swings and so much more, these items are all generously donated to the Inn to help support growing families.
“Walking alongside and then celebrating a first birthday, or celebrating a high school graduation or a college graduation,” Demkowicz said. “It’s the honor of a lifetime to be able to have a tiny part in their journey.”
Raffle tickets are 1 for $10 or six for $50 and can be purchased on Shepherd’s Inn website. You can purchase tickets through October 31st, and the drawing will take place November 5th.
If you aren’t interested in the raffle, they always accept donations. From money to baby necessities and supplies new parents may need, everything helps.
