Charges updated for man accused in Columbia carjacking
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Charges have been updated for one of the two men accused in a carjacking last month in Columbia.
Ja’Marion Dalton, 19, of Columbia, is now charged with carjacking, armed criminal action, stealing a vehicle, six counts of second-degree burglary and a count of misdemeanor breaking into a vehicle. He was previously charged with carjacking, armed criminal action and stealing a vehicle. He is being held at the jail without bond.
Emmanual Ernest, 19, of Columbia, is still charged with carjacking, armed criminal action and stealing a vehicle. He is also being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
The updated charges against Dalton were filed on Thursday, according to court filings. He has a hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. Ernest has a hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.
Court documents in previous reporting claim Dalton, Ernest and a juvenile broke into multiple vehicles in September at a Columbia College parking lot. Two vehicles were stolen from separate locations and one victim claimed someone pulled a gun and demanded their vehicle, previous reporting shows.
Both vehicles were found using Flock cameras, police wrote. Victims’ credit cards were allegedly found at in a bedroom of one of the men and Dalton allegedly had a key fob for another vehicle in his pocket when he was detained, previous reporting shows.
