TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (WVTM) — President Donald Trump’s planned trip to Tuscaloosa for Saturday’s Alabama-Georgia football game is now uncertain as a potential hurricane threatens the Gulf Coast.
Trump said Wednesday he will let the weather situation determine whether he travels to Alabama for the matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
“A hurricane and a football game. I love Alabama. I got to go to a game like that. We hopefully are,” Trump said. “Look, I mean, if there’s an emergency or there’s a hurricane, I don’t want to do anything to take the focus of all of the great people that work on those things.”
Trump said he did not want his visit to interfere with emergency response efforts.
“You know, they have some tremendously great people. I don’t want to take the focus off, but. So we’ll have to see,” he said. “I hadn’t heard about a hurricane. The hurricane is going in the vicinity of Alabama. That’s not good. Certainly, I am going to let the hurricane determine. I want people to be safe.”
