DELAFIELD, Wisconsin (WISN) — A Delafield family is calling for consequences after their home was left covered in toilet paper, food and other items.
The family said they woke up on Sept. 24 to find their entire front yard, backyard and vehicles wrapped in roll after roll of toilet paper. Rachel Tegeder said there was also Nutella smeared on her driveway, on her vehicles and garbage was left on the ground.
It’s a mess that Tegeder said is more than just a harmless prank.
“The spirit of these children that did this in my yard are evil-spirited,” Tegeder said. “It saddens me to think that someone in my community or my neighborhood felt comfortable making me uncomfortable.”
She believes the vandals intentionally hit her family’s home.
“I felt like my family has a target on their back,” Tegeder said.
She believes it’s because of one of her sons.
“[He] has high-functioning autism, and he is a target and he gets bullied on a daily basis. And so his car in particular was vandalized the most,” Tegeder said.
Tegeder told 12 News she called police and sent a letter to her son’s school about the incident, calling for action.
“In my world there is a real difference between wrong and right and it is so important that all of us parents kind of gather as a unified front to make sure that our kids grow up with a moral conscience,” Tegeder said.
More than a week later, there are still remnants of toilet paper high up in the family’s trees, and they said they still have no idea who did it. Now, they’re offering a $1,000 cash reward for anyone who comes forward with information.
