Sunday morning fire caused by ‘improperly discarded smoking materials’

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A fire that occurred Sunday morning in northern Columbia was caused by “improperly discarded smoking materials,” according to a Monday afternoon press release by the Columbia Fire Department.
The release says crews were called at 6:43 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 2500 block of Oakland Gravel Road.
The back of the home was on fire when crews arrived, according to the release.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
