Texas Lt. Governor candidates address affordability, data centers, and a potential debate, five weeks before Election Day
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — On Monday, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick held a brief news conference in East El Paso addressing multiple issues affecting both the Borderland and state-wide, as his re-election campaign continues.
“I know there’s a lot of commercials flying around, lots of people taking about a lot of issues,” said Lt. Gov. Patrick on Monday. “But it really comes down to this. Who do we want be as a state?”
Shortly following his address to the media, ABC-7 spoke with Lt. Gov. Patrick’s opponent this November, Democratic State Representative Vikki Goodwin, who has represented an area SW of Austin since 2019.
“I feel like I’m representing the people,” Rep. Goodwin told ABC-7. “He’s representing some large donors.”
Lt. Governor Patrick is running for re-election for a potential fourth term in Austin this November, while State Rep. Goodwin is looking to be the first Democrat to sit at the state’s second highest seat of power since Bob Bullock’s two terms from 1991-1999.
