San Luis, Arizona residents stand against domestic violence
SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA) – Dozens of people came together in San Luis Friday morning for the city’s annual walk to raise awareness about domestic abuse.
The walk started at 8 a.m. on Main Street and ended at Joe Orduño Park.
Organized by Proverbs 31 Home, the San Luis Domestic Violence Coalition, the San Luis Police Department and the City of San Luis, the event has been held for 15 years.
Organizers say they were especially glad to see more young people come out this year.
Maria Cecilia Cruz, President of Proverbs 31 Home, said getting young people involved can help break the cycle of abuse.
“They’re learning to break the cycle of domestic violence,” Cruz said.
Organizers hope the event continues to get people talking and encourages more people to speak up when they see someone needs help.
