Student took unloaded gun to Riverside Middle School

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — A student took an unloaded gun to Riverside Middle School Friday morning, according to the Ysleta Independent School District. No injuries were reported.

The district said it happened before classes started. School administration and security officers searched the student and their belongings, and found no ammunition.

YISD said police were notified and the student’s parents were contacted. Additionally, the district is taking disciplinary action.

Classes continued according to the school’s normal schedule, the district said.
