Fire Marshal Declares Santa Maria Supply Building A Total Loss After Weekend Blaze
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – The Santa Maria Fire Marshal says the ‘Santa Maria Supply’ building is a total loss after a fire over the weekend.
Emergency crews were called out to the fire at the corner of Blosser Road and Boone Street around 3:30 Saturday morning.
The fire was burning through Santa Maria Supply, a family owned and operated hardware store.
Fire marshal Jim Austin says one firefighter was hurt, treated overnight at Marian Medical Center, and is home recovering.
It appears the fire was an accident.
“The initial investigation has confirmed that it’s most likely accidental,” says Santa Maria’s fire marshal Jim Austin. “And very early indications are that it’s electrical in nature. We’re still gathering information, including video from surrounding businesses and additional records from PGE and the utilities.”
Officials say the blaze heavily damaged the storage area.
Debris remains on site, but it’s not hazardous to the public.
