I-70 lane reopens early in Columbia after weekend closure
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Westbound Interstate 70 near the I-70/Highway 63 connector in Columbia is back to two lanes earlier than expected.
According to a Facebook post from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the second lane reopened early Sunday morning after being closed since Friday night for work on a new flyover ramp that will connect northbound Highway 63 to westbound I-70.
MoDOT anticipated the construction would be fully finished by Monday morning.
During the weekend closure, crews worked to put in girders for the flyover ramp. MoDOT said the work isn’t over– two girders were placed over the weekend, and the remaining ones will be set on Monday and Wednesday.
That work will not affect traffic, the post says.
The next step in the project is to start forming the deck of the ramp. That is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
