Blooms of Kindness repurposes flowers into gifts of kindness

WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Blooms of Kindness, a local charity, recently repurposed flowers left in tribute at the Dolly Parton mural in West Asheville to turn into arrangements.
The nonprofit organization tries to spread joy one bouquet at a time, all year long.
“Our mission is to take volunteers who will make bouquets out of flowers that are donated to us, vases that are donated to us, and repurpose them into beautiful arrangements and deliver them to people who might need a little sunshine in their day,” chairperson Linda Heaton said.
The flowers are then delivered to local nursing homes, hospice care, hospitals and shelters.
“Whether arranging or delivering them, it’s all just a win-win situation of doing something for others,” volunteer Scott Abernethy said.
“It’s just a sense of being a part of something bigger, and who doesn’t like flowers,” said volunteer Steve Schachtscheneider.
Blooms of Kindness operates in Asheville every week, and in Hendersonville once a month.
