Garth Brooks plays surprise show in Denver, to the surprise of no one

DENVER, Colorado (KCNC) — After days of speculation in the country music scene in Denver, the truth is out. Yukon Jack, the performer allegedly slated for a show at the Grizzly Rose on Thursday, is actually country megastar Garth Brooks.
After an opening act, Brooks came onstage at the nightclub just before 9 p.m. with his band to huge cheers from the crowd.
“It’s nuts in here,” said Amy Wong, who was one of the lucky fans who made it inside the club.
Brooks then started with his song “Rodeo” to start off his set.
It was a big payoff for fans who waited in line for hours in the heat outside the club. More than 20 people in the crowd had to be treated for heat exhaustion in the parking lot, Adams County Fire Rescue said. Three people were transferred for heat exhaustion.
“It’s very hot, and this was ridiculous. This, with all the pushing, they need to fix something,” said one Brooks fan.
Grizzly Rose opened its doors more than an hour ahead of schedule to get people out of the sun. Fans pitched in, too.
“Everyone’s been awesome. It’s been really positive, and everyone’s kind of like a teamwork atmosphere; we’ve been having a lot of fun with each other,” said one fan.
“We had an umbrella we just gave away,” said another.
No one had to be taken to the hospital.
For those “believers,” it was all worth it.
“I feel like with social media and internet connection nowadays, I don’t know if this will happen again; you just can’t keep it a secret. Obviously, look at what we’re doing right now,” said one Brooks fan.
Brooks is playing four different large-scale concerts in Denver in the next few days. He’ll be at Ball Arena on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as part of his Blame It All On My Roots Tour.
