Wrongful death lawsuit filed against pair accused in 2024 killing of Columbia man
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two people who are charged in connection with the death of a Columbia man have been sued in civil court.
Alexander Aklan is charged in Boone County with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action in the 2024 death of Antonio Davis, 56. Felicia Hay is charged with first-degree assault in the same case.
Davis’ daughter Sofia Davis filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in Boone County accusing the pair of wrongful death.
Aklan and are accused of assaulting Antonio Davis, with Aklan knocking him to the ground by pistol-whipping him, causing the victim to hit his head and be rushed to a hospital with a brain bleed, according to court documents in previous reporting. Hay kicked the victim, the statement says.
A jury trial is scheduled in Aklan’s criminal case for 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2027, while a pretrial conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8. A warrant with a $10,000 bond was ordered for Hay last month.
