Coachella container park petitions to remain open after cease-and-desist
COACHELLA, Calif. (KESQ) — For residents of Coachella, the Container Park has grown to be more than a place to dine. Residents say it’s grown into a place for the community to gather, according to its petition page.
However, the Container Park’s city permits expired in March, leading the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health to issue a cease-and-desist order at the end of August.
A Facebook post from the city of Coachella stated that the city continues to work with the operator toward compliance. In the meantime, the city has provided opportunities for special permits.
At a Coachella City Council meeting on Sept. 9, officials will discuss the future operations of the Container Park.
