West Ash Street near the Activity and Recreation Center in Columbia is temporarily closed for emergency waterline repairs Wednesday.

Repair crews with Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. began working on the broken waterline at 4 a.m. W. Ash St. is closed between Bernadette Dr. and Clinkscales Road; however, crews expect to complete the work Wednesday afternoon.

The repair location is just west of the entrance to the ARC. The sidewalk in the area will stay open during the repair, according to a press release from the city.

Residents can still get to the ARC through the Clinkscales Road entrance. The release says through traffic should use alternative routes such as West Worley Street or West Broadway.
