Wings Over Camarillo Soars
CAMARILLO, Calif. (KEYT) – ‘Wings Over Camarillo’ celebrated its 45th airshow.
Skydivers floated to the ground with flags during the midday show.
Pilot Sam Mason followed with an acrobatic flight dedicated to the late pilot Judy Phelps of Santa Paula.
She was a beloved member of the Ventura County 99’s who died of cancer in May.
There is now a scholarship in her honor.
She taught Liz Schaible how to fly.
“She was an amazing member of the Ventura County 99s, International 99s. We have a Judy Phelps memorial emergency maneuver training scholarship,” said Schaible. “That we are raising money for so that her legacy continues.”
People came early to sit near the runway for the best view, but people could just look up and see the planes soaring near the Camarillo airport.
In addition to seeing all the plains, there is also a car show.
Parents brought there kids to a special STEM pavilion where they had a chance to learn, play and explore.
Wings over Camarillo continues on Sunday.
