Washington (Quincy News) — Market Recap: Continued uncertainty over the Iran war and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz sent Brent crude up nearly 5% on Monday. Nvidia fell after announcing new financing partnerships with six major Wall Street firms aimed at expanding AI infrastructure, as investors weighed the risks of the deal.

For consumers, the buildout could eventually mean greater computing capacity for everything from AI assistants and search to cloud-based tools, helping support broader access to AI services as demand grows.

The S&P 500 fell 0.06%, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.32%, and the Dow Jones fell 0.11%. The 10-year Treasury yield rose 6 basis points to 4.71% Monday, driven by inflation concerns and higher oil prices.

Today’s Focus: Inflation numbers for July will dominate the week, with the Consumer Price Index landing Wednesday morning, the Producer Price Index on Thursday and the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index on Friday. Also on the calendar Tuesday: Boeing orders and deliveries, along with any meaningful developments around the Strait of Hormuz.
