COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police officers on Tuesday evening blocked off the entrance to an apartment building in central Columbia.

Officers had an armored vehicle near Kinney Point Apartments near Garth Avenue and Sexton Road. A patrol vehicle was used to block off the area.

Officers left the scene by 8:20 p.m.

Randy Cole, CEO of the Columbia Housing Authority, which oversees the complex, said officers were serving a warrant in connection with something that happened over the weekend.

“CPD SWAT and detectives are on scene serving a search warrant for an event that occurred over the weekend.  Will let you know when I have more information,” Cole said in a message to ABC 17 News.

Cole later told ABC 17 News that the person officers were looking for was not at the apartment and is not a Columbia Housing Authority resident.
