Law enforcement continues looking for suspect on ATV in Callaway County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Law enforcement is still looking for a suspect on an ATV in Callaway County after chasing the man from Boone County into Callaway County fields around noon Tuesday.
According to a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, sheriff’s deputies from both agencies were using dogs and drones to follow the suspect near Callaway County Road 284, and Lieutenant Curtis Hall told ABC 17 News the search was broken up at County Road 240, around 1:30 p.m.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office updated the original post at 2:15 p.m. and said deputies would stay in the area, as service calls allow.
Boone County’s Captain Brian Leer said BCSO started the chase near St. Charles Road and Battle Avenue, which is near Battle High School. He didn’t say why the chase started, but did say the search dissolved around 12:15 p.m.
The Callaway County post describes the suspect as having brown hair and wearing a black hat, khaki pants and a light blue shirt.
The man was driving an ATV and went south into a field from County Road 284 near Stephens, according to the post.
Residents in the area are asked to lock their homes and vehicles. It wasn’t clear whether the suspect was armed.
