C.A.R.E.4Paws Expands Foster Program to Keep Pets & Families Together
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – A temporary home can make a lasting difference for both pets and their people.
Santa Barbara-based C.A.R.E.4Paws is expanding its foster program, recruiting Central Coast families to care for dogs and cats while owners navigate difficult circumstances.
In addition, the non-profit’s new Pet Refuge offers emergency boarding, while foster volunteers provide a home setting for pets needing extra time or attention.
The program supports families facing medical crises, housing instability, domestic violence, and other unexpected challenges — allowing them to focus on recovery without surrendering a beloved companion.
Most placements last one to three months before pets return home. C.A.R.E.4Paws supplies food, veterinary care, and ongoing support throughout each stay.
Leaders hope more families will step forward to keep pets safe and make reunions possible.
