Washington (Quincy News) — Market Recap: Stocks finished higher Friday as SK Hynix’s Nasdaq debut revived enthusiasm around AI-linked chip names ahead of earnings season. Nvidia rose about 4% and Meta jumped roughly 6%, its best weekly performance since early 2024, helping lift the broader market. The S&P 500 rose 0.42% to 7,575.39, the Nasdaq added 0.29% to 26,281.61, and the Dow gained 150 points, or 0.29%, to 52,637.01.
Today’s Focus: Markets open under pressure Monday as the U.S. and Iran exchanged fresh strikes over the weekend, with Iran declaring the Strait of Hormuz closed and Brent crude surging more than 4% to near $79 a barrel. The Monthly Treasury Statement is due at 2:00 p.m. ET, but attention will quickly turn to Tuesday’s June CPI report, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s first congressional testimony, and the start of major bank earnings season. June PPI, Warsh’s Senate testimony, and the Beige Book follow Wednesday, with retail sales due Thursday.
