The century-old fruit cake, baked in Claxton since 1910, proved that hometown pride, loyal supporters and a strong family tradition can still deliver a major win — and this time, it came with a little extra sweetness.
“Winner, winner — no chicken dinner,” supporters celebrated after Claxton Fruit Cake punched its ticket to the third round, knocking off one of Georgia’s most recognizable brands in the tournament-style competition.
