GILFORD, New Hampshire (WMUR) — Rapper Lil Wayne was more than two hours late for his concert Friday night at the BankNH Pavilion in Gilford but he did eventually take the stage, according to multiple social media users who say they were at the show.
Many concert-goers, though, said they left the show without seeing the iconic rapper, according to posts in the popular “Laconia is Really Talking” Facebook group.
For those who stayed, they watched Lil Wayne take the stage shortly before 11 p.m. and perform past the town’s 11 p.m. curfew.
The rapper posted a video to his Instagram page about the Friday show, but he did not acknowledge that he was late.
“New Hampshire! It’s your man-ster. I told you man, that (expletive) was awesome. You can see I don’t even have no voice. You all took my voice. You all took everything, man. It was (expletive) awesome,” he said.
The Instagram post shows a number of comments with fans posting complaints about his tardiness.
One concertgoer, Natasha Berry, attended Lil Wayne’s concert in Gilford.
“I brought my little brother to his first concert. I’m like, ‘Lil Wayne, where can you go wrong with Lil Wayne?’ Well, this is where you can go wrong,” said Berry.
Berry felt mixed emotions about the show and the experience.
“So he did a show. It was great. It was definitely an experience. Definitely a little disappointed that that’s how my brother’s first concert went. Would I do it again? Would I see Wayne again? Probably not,” said Berry.
The rapper missed a concert earlier this week in Bangor, Maine, and later apologized.
WMUR has reached out to the BankNH Pavilion, Ticketmaster, and representatives for Lil Wayne but we have not yet heard back.
