JACKSON COUNTY, Missouri (KMBC) — Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota has confirmed an alligator was caught at a local lake.

“Longview Lou,” a juvenile alligator, was found at Longview Lake this week and is now in the hands of Kansas City’s Animal Control.

LeVota said a fisherman spotted the alligator.

“The alligator is now in the care of Kansas City Animal Control, where he will be held for a short period while officials determine whether an owner can be identified,” LeVota said. “My hope is Longview Lou can go live at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium!”

There are no indications the alligator injured anyone.
