SALINAS, California (KSBW) — Salinas police said an argument early Sunday morning escalated into criminal threats, weapons violations, vandalism and a vehicle chase.
Just before 3 a.m., two victims reported being threatened by two suspects armed with a shotgun. The victims later said they were also confronted with machete-style knives, per police.
Officers later located the suspect vehicle on Romie Lane. When they attempted to stop it, the driver did not yield, leading officers on a chase that ended near Hitchcock Road after the vehicle left the roadway and entered an onion field.
Both suspects then fled on foot but were quickly apprehended.
During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a privately manufactured .45-caliber handgun and a machete believed to have been used in the incident from earlier in the day, per police.
Authorities identified the suspects as Justin Ramos, 25, and Jaycob Menchaca, 23.
