MILWAUKEE (WISN) — Four people were injured Friday night after gunfire erupted at a McDonald’s near Capitol Drive and Holton Street in Milwaukee.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m., with police tape stretched across the property, broken glass covering the ground, and detectives moving in and out of the restaurant.

“There was like four or five police cars,” Andres Aguilar, who saw the massive investigation, said.

Milwaukee police said at least one person was shot and taken to the hospital, while three others, including a 16-year-old, were hurt but refused medical attention at the scene.

Witnesses expressed frustration and confusion about the circumstances of the shooting.

“Over what? Over what? Over the wrong order or something?” Aguilar said.

Police said the gunfire may have been sparked by an argument. A manager inside the restaurant told 12 News that someone entered the dining area and opened fire at one of the victims.

Less than 24 hours after the shooting, the restaurant resumed operations, with the drive-thru open and customers inside.

Brandon Byrd, who works nearby, said the incident was unsettling.

“I work right across the street, so it is like a little close to where I work, so yeah, that is crazy,” Byrd said. “Bullets don’t have names, and they travel far, and you never know what can happen. If they shoot here, they can very well just go over there and shoot up my place too.”

Milwaukee police have not yet made any arrests.
