OMAHA, Nebraska (KETV) — Game 2 of the Men’s College World Series on Sunday afternoon was decades in the making for one long-time Oklahoma Sooners baseball fan.
Roy Sells, 92, has been a fan of the game for more than 75 years. Sells met his wife, Leora, in Nebraska before they moved to Oklahoma City and became Sooner fans. Tragically, Leora died in the Oklahoma City bombings in 1995.
As Sells has gotten older, his family says his one wish was to attend the College World Series one final time. He hadn’t attended a game in Omaha in over a decade.
Sells’ family decided to fly him out to Omaha to attend Game 2 of the College World Series championship series.
“I think that’s the best baseball ever is up here,” said Sells. “They have, you know, two of the best teams in the country. I like to see them. They play good.”
Sells was originally supposed to attend Game 1 before his flight was cancelled and rescheduled to make it for Game 2, for one last baseball game in Omaha.
