‘Gap Fire’ grows to 200 acres between Inkom and Pocatello

INKOM, Idaho (KIFI) – Firefighters in Bannock County are working to contain a fast-moving vegetation fire burning between Inkom and Pocatello. The Gap Fire was first reported just before 2:00 p.m. Sunday near the 6000 block of West Old Highway 91.

According to Watch Duty, the blaze has burned an estimated 20 acres as of 3:50 p.m. and is highly visible from Interstate 15.

Ground crews are being supported from the air by a U.S. Forest Service helicopter bucket crew, which is actively targeting the fire’s southern flank.

No containment timeline has been established, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
