REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) The City of Redmond will hold a public ribbon cutting on Friday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the new Veterans Way and Airport Way roundabout. The event also highlights the opening of the newly constructed Airport Way extension, marking a major phase completion of the Eastside Arterial Project.

The completion of the Veterans Way and Airport Way roundabout is a significant milestone for Phase 3 of the Eastside Arterial project, designed to improve safety and long-term connectivity across the corridor. Additionally, Phase one’s southern connection at 9th Street will open on June 8, creating a new link from Airport Way to OR126, which is expected to enhance mobility and reduce congestion throughout the eastside network.

Parking for the ribbon cutting event will be accessible by turning south onto 9th Street from the Hwy 126 and 9th Street roundabout. This segment of 9th Street will be open for event attendees only and not for thru traffic.

The Eastside Arterial project utilizes the Progressive Design Build method, an approach that involves the contractor early for close collaboration and increased flexibility. This delivery model allows for real-time design and construction adjustments, such as the addition of a temporary detour road, to minimize disruption to nearby businesses and travelers.

The City of Redmond has expressed its appreciation to local businesses, travelers and the broader community for their patience and cooperation during recent detours and construction-related closures. For more information about the Eastside Arterial Project, the public can visit www.redmondoregon.gov/eastsidearterial or contact Principal Engineer Jake Sherman at (541) 504-2019 or jake.sherman@redmondoregon.gov.

Following the ceremony, crews will implement a full road closure from June 5–7 to perform the final tie-ins required before the roadway opens. The new roundabout and roadway will officially open to the public on June 8. Construction updates, detour information and phase schedules will be shared as work progresses.
