Bend family devastated by late-night fire, home deemed total loss

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A Bend family is picking up the pieces after a late-night fire left two homes uninhabitable last week, with theirs considered a total loss.
The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21, near Boyd Acres Road in Northeast Bend. Bend Fire & Rescue said first-arriving crews found two residences heavily involved, with flames extending into nearby brush and trees.
Crews called a second alarm and stopped the fire’s progression within about 45 minutes. Damage from the fire is estimated at more than $1 million, and the cause remains under investigation.
