Parts of Imperial County experiences multiple earthquakes

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA) – Multiple earthquakes shook parts of Imperial County Saturday afternoon.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first earthquake happened in Brawley at around 4:15 p.m. Pacific, and it was a 3.5-magnitude earthquake.

Four minutes later, the USGS said another earthquake took place in Brawley, but it was a 2.6-magnitude earthquake.

Then, at around 4:22 p.m., USGS said a 2.8-magnitude earthquake also happened in Brawley, with the most recent one taking place before 5 p.m. in Brawley.

The USGS also reported two different earthquakes in Brawley, with a 3.4-magnitude earthquake happening after 5:30 p.m., and a 3.1-magnitude earthquake happening before 5:40 p.m.

In other parts of the county, the Southern California Earthquake Data Center (SCEDC) reported two earthquakes in Holtville:

5 p.m.: 1.7-magnitude

5:05 p.m.: 1.6-magnitude

There was also an earthquake that happened in Ocotillo after 5 p.m., and SCEDC says it was a 2.2-magnitude earthquake.
