Actor Jane Fonda Joins Fight Against Fossil Fuels in New Documentary

Alissa Orozco

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – In a new documentary debuting at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, actor and activist Jane Fonda travels throughout the country, seeing the effects fossil fuel companies are having on a variety of people and businesses.

Gaslit exposes the pollution and detrimental health issues fossil fuels are causing in people and the environment. Chemicals such as ammonia, hydrogen, and methane are pumped into the atmosphere every day from these power plants, shortening the life expectancy by 15 to 20 years, according to a documentary subject.

Fonda made an appearance at the Film Festival on February 5th following U.S. premiere of the documentary film.

The film will feature true stories of shrimpers, cattle ranchers, former oil workers, families, faith leaders, and organizers who are standing up against fossil fuels.

“You know, it’s like one fight. And the thing of it is, there are so many fights out there, and we need to get them together and make a fist,” says documentary subject, Diane Wilson.

You can catch a screening of Gaslit during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 8th and 10th.

SLO County Airport adding more parking with new premium lot

Dave Alley

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (KEYT) – The San Luis Obispo County Airport (SBP) will soon increase the number of parking spaces on its property with the opening of its brand new premium parking lot.

On Monday, Feb. 9, the new lot is scheduled to open and will boost the overall number of parking spots throughout the airport property to just under 700.

The new premium site is located right next to the terminal and is just a few steps away from the entrance near the rental car counters and baggage claim.

Previously used as lot for rental car return, the new premium parking lot will add 60 spaces to the airport’s parking availability inventory.

“With continued growth in passenger activity, we’re being thoughtful about how we expand access and convenience at the airport,” said Courtney Johnson, SLO County Airport Director. “The Premium Parking Lot provides an additional option for travelers who value proximity to the terminal, while allowing us to continue offering a range of parking choices for the broader community.”

Two weeks ago, the airport announced a record-breaking amount of passengers traveled through the airport in 2025.

According to the county, the airport saw 811,905 passengers use the county-operated facility last year, marking a 8.7% increase from the previous year.

Premium parking will cost travelers $35 a day, while parking in the four other lots will continue to cost $25 for each day.

“Travel looks different for everyone,” said San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg, who represents the district where the airport is located. “The Premium Parking Lot offers added convenience for people who value close access to the terminal, alongside the airport’s existing parking options.”

The opening of new premium lot also follows the recent installation of new solar canopies to the airport’s main parking lot.

Several canopy structures are now in place over many of the lot’s parking stalls, which represents 65% of the airport’s overall total of guest parking.

Construction was a two-part process that began last June. Worked finished up right before Thanksgiving and the airport has been waiting to receive its Permission to Operate, which finally arrived about one month ago.

Bonneville County man arrested on multiple child pornography charges

Seth Ratliff

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) — A local man is facing multiple felony charges after a multi-agency investigation allegedly uncovered a massive hoard of child pornography on his Google Drive and Photos accounts.

On Wednesday, February 4, authorities arrested Anthony Price, 28, of Bonneville County, Idaho, Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced today. Price faces 1 count of distribution of child sexual exploitation material and 7 counts of possession of child sexual exploitive material.

“Every arrest my ICAC Unit makes removes another threat from Idaho streets and brings us closer to ensuring children can grow up safe from exploitation,” said Attorney General Labrador. “The law enforcement partnerships we’ve built across eastern Idaho make it possible to take swift action when children are at risk, and we’re grateful for every agency that shares our commitment to protecting Idaho’s kids.”

The Investigation

The investigation began on January 6, 2026, after the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip flagged suspicious activity on the messaging app Kik, linked to a username and email address registered to Price.

According to court documents, the message in question contained a video file depicting two young boys, around the age of 12, engaging in sex acts.

The investigation expanded in late December when a local man reported receiving illicit content on Telegram from an account with the same username. After obtaining warrants for Price’s Google Drive and Photos accounts, investigators reportedly uncovered 164 files of CSAM, some depicting extreme sexual violence against infants and toddlers.

On February 4, detectives with the Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) executed a search warrant at Price’s home. Price was later taken into custody without incident in the Ross parking lot near the Grand Teton Mall.

According to court docs, Price admitted in interviews with police to using various social media platforms to view and distribute the material. He also reportedly told the officers he enjoyed the way it made him feel when people knew he had child pornography.

Price was then booked into the Bonneville County Jail on a $1 million bond. His preliminary hearing has been set for February 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM.

The ICAC Unit was assisted by the Idaho Falls Police Department, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Turning Point USA adds Club America chapter in Deschutes County

Spencer Sacks

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) — In the wake of Turning Point USA‘s founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination last September, Turning Point and Club America chapters have grown rapidly across the United States.

Old chapters are being revived, and new ones are sprouting up. That includes a Club America chapter in Deschutes County. The high school club arm of the organization.

On Friday, the group had a meet-and-greet with student leaders of the club to talk about the organization.

Jaxon Middleton, a high school sophomore and founder of the chapter, told KTVZ News, “After the whole Charlie Kirk incident and people were just asking us if we were going to do it, and then we were like, ‘Yeah, we’re definitely going to do it.’”

Emilyn, a member of the organization, told us, “There’s a lot of people who do want to get involved with something like this. And so I think that having these resources would really help a lot of them.”

With Deschutes County’s continued growth, it has become a more “purple” area politically.

Many were curious why Turning Point started a Club America chapter here.

Jaxon’s mom, Jamie Middleton, said, “Being a purple county, it’s important that the conservative voices stand up, speak out, because often we are given a chance to. and these youth need to know it’s okay to stand up for what they believe. We know the aversion to it will come, and that just helps build character.“

Friday’s meeting was just the second event the club’s had since its founding, but it has goals to not only expand, but also to have speaker events in the future.

Bend’s Eddie Bauer Outlet store set to close amid reports operator will file for bankruptcy, shut all U.S. stores

Barney Lerten

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Eddie Bauer Outlet at Bend Factory Stores will close amid several news and industry reports that the outdoor apparel retailer plans to close all of its North American stores after a planned Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

An employee of the Bend store on South Highway 97, who asked not to be named, confirmed Friday to KTVZ News that workers learned on Thursday that the store will close by April 30.

Women’s Wear Daily reported late last month, quoting sources, that Catalyst Brands, which owns the rights to operate the stores, will leave the brick-and-mortar business and close its approximately 180 North American stores. It reported that the Chapter 11 filing could happen this month.

Business Insider reported Friday that several parties are expected to bid for the rights to operate some or all of the stores, possibly keeping its U.S. stores open or bringing the Eddie Bauer brand under another retailer.

Eddie Bauer’s namesake opened his first store in Seattle over a century ago, in 1920 and later designed the first patented down jacket. The company previously twice filed for bankruptcy, in 2003 and 2009.

Some Eddie Bauer stores already have posted signs announcing their closure, with no date given, including one at a Reno, Nevada mall.

The closure is not expected to affect the brand’s manufacturing or e-commerce operations or stores operating outside the U.S. or Canada.
