JUÁREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) — Oliver Rivera Peña, an officer with the General Coordination of Road Safety, assigned to monitor the line at the Córdova international bridge, assisted a woman who was about to give birth and was trying to cross into El Paso, Texas.

The traffic officer was approached by a woman driving a gray Chevrolet Aveo, who informed him about her sister’s situation. However, because the line was so long, there wasn’t enough time to cross into the United States, so she was seeking assistance to take her sister to Star Médica hospital.

Due to the circumstances, the officer requested an ambulance, and when it arrived, the paramedics had to perform the necessary procedures for the delivery. A baby boy was born in good health. Both mother and child were then transported to the hospital for further examination.

The agency is working “For a better road safety culture,” with the goal of reducing incidents and promoting awareness and responsibility when traveling on the various roads of our city.
