Wanted sex offender’s arrest in Hallsville prompted large law enforcement response

Ryan Shiner

HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A number of law enforcement officers were seen in Hallsville on Thursday as they arrested a sex offender who had a warrant for his arrest, according to a social media post from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Dwayne Gathings, 51, of Hallsville, is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a U.S. Marshal hold and Boone County accusations of failure to register as a sex offender and being within 1,000 feet of a school. Charges were not available on Casenet on Thursday evening.

Residents may have noticed a large law enforcement at the corner of Route B and East Highway 124 around 4 p.m. A number of people had called ABC 17 News about seeing law enforcement around that time and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was seen with an armored vehicle when an ABC 17 News photographer was at the scene. Gathings was arrested at 5 p.m.

The post from the sheriff’s office says Gathings was unlawfully residing at a residence located near the Sassafras Moon and that he failed to register the address.

“Over the last three weeks, probable cause was developed to believe Gathings was residing at 121/123 E Highway 124 in Hallsville, MO, which is within 1,000 feet of a public school and within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility. On 10/23/2025, a search warrant was issued to seize Gathings from 121/123 E Highway 124,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

He was found hiding in an attic in the building, the sheriff’s office wrote.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office releases new bodycam/drone video in Shelley officer-involved shooting

Seth Ratliff

SHELLEY, Idaho (KIFI) — The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has released new video footage, compiled from body camera and drone perspectives, detailing the events of the August 19th shooting death of 35-year-old Talon Sessions.

This release follows a decision made over a month ago when both the Bonneville County and Bingham County deputies involved were cleared of any wrongdoing. Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley concluded that the deputies were justified in their actions after a thorough investigation by the Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force.

The incident that ultimately led to the officer-involved shooting began with an attempted 4-wheeler theft at a home near Shelley at just before 11:00 p.m. on August 19th. According to the initial 911 reports, the homeowner confronted the suspect, later identified as Sessions, in an exchange of gunfire that left both the homeowner and Sessions wounded before Sessions fled the scene.

According to Prosecutor Jolley’s report, deputies located Sessions lying in the brush west of the property shortly after arriving. The video footage shows Sessions holding a revolver as law enforcement approached. Though he initially appears to struggle, he then shifted position and repeatedly attempted to raise the weapon toward the deputies.

Deputies yelled multiple times for Sessions to drop the weapon, show his hands, and surrender, even offering medical help and warning the man they had a K-9 unit on the way. Despite this, Sessions ultimately raised the revolver and pointed it directly at the deputies. In response, six deputies from both counties then fired a total of 30 rounds, killing Sessions.

The newly compiled footage features portions of the 911 calls received by Bingham County Dispatch, in addition to the on-the-ground body camera and aerial drone video. According to Sgt. Bryan Lovell of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, the video is intended to supplement and provide additional context to the prosecutor’s earlier review of the incident.

Opening day for new Santa Maria Chick-fil-A announced

Dave Alley

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – An opening day has been announced for the new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Santa Maria.

The popular chain will open its second restaurant in Santa Maria on Thursday, Nov. 6.

It will join the other Chick-fil-A in Santa Maria, which is located along Betteravia Road in the Enos Ranch shopping center on the south side of the city.

The new location is at the north end of the city just off of Highway 101 at the busy intersection of North Broadway and Presiker Lane, next to the Hampton Inn and Suites and Wendy’s restaurant.

Due to the popularity of Chick-fil-A, long lines of cars are usually seen at its restaurants and there have been some concerns how the location will be able to handle what is expected to be a heavy amount of traffic.

To help traffic flow at the busy location, city planners and the developer have worked together creating a plan that is intended to limit the potential impacts.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Local market Tri-County Produce, known for having the freshest produce grown/made right here on the Central Coast, is hosting a Harvest Homecoming Block Party!

Taking place on Saturday, October 25th, the event invites the community to visit the store to do their part in supporting local farmers, while enjoying family-friendly activities and great food!

We’re just trying to bring the community all together and show that we all can be together and just have a lot of fun,” said Desales Sr. “Doing pumpkin painting, face painting. All our food vendors will be sampling out a bunch of food and live music, and I just expect everybody to have a good time and come together and enjoy the moment, enjoy the weekend.”

The Desales pair took over as owners earlier the year after long-time owner John Dixon announced his retirement back in March. The market was heading towards shut down until the long-time employees decided to take over, keeping fresh produce available to the community, with the help of Philanthropists Wendy and Eric Schmidt.

“It’s makes me feel happy and I enjoy it. You know there’s a lot of, a lot of work to do, but together we’re doing very well, and we, I think we can take the store to another level that it should be.”

The block party will take place Saturday, October 25th from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Local vendors and farmers behind the very products you see sold at Tri-County Produce will be there to join in on the community celebration.
