Marie Moyer

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Police arrested Octavious Bradshaw, 29, of St. Louis after a five-hour standoff Saturday morning in the 2700 block of Summit Road.

Bradshaw was arrested on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree domestic assault, fourth-degree domestic assault, felony resisting arrest, second-degree property damage, felony warrants, and a misdemeanor warrant.

Around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 2711 Summit Road where an alleged victim reported having been assaulted and threatened with a weapon. The victim identified Bradshaw as the suspect, according to a news release from CPD.

Bradshaw was reportedly inside the home with another adult and a child.

Sergeant Ryan Brunstrom told ABC 17 News that when officers arrived, they encountered a female victim and a male suspect who barricaded himself in the residence.

“We called in our SWAT team and our crisis negotiation team were able to basically talk him out of the residence, he surrendered peacefully, no injuries,” Brunstrom said.

A Bearcat armored vehicle was also at the scene. One witness at the scene told ABC 17 News that he saw guns pointed at the home.

Brunstrom said Bradshaw came out of the home willingly after the five-hour standoff.

The scene was cleared, and Bradshaw was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m.

The CPD Criminal Investigation team was seen investigating inside the home.

Motocross daredevil Colby Raha to attempt record breaking jump at Palm Springs Surf Club

KESQ News Team

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) – A world record that’s stood for more than 50 years could be broken in June in Palm Springs!

Motocross daredevil Colby Raha will attempt to break the record for the longest motorcycle jump to a flat landing. He’s aiming for 200 feet with no landing ramp.

The attempt is set for June 21 at the Palm Springs Surf Club

Raha won’t be able to practice or rehearse the stunt because of how risky it is.

“So this is a long-term thing. We’re, we’re doing it right. We’re bringing in the proper measurements, the proper uh ramp angles, double checking our numbers, wearing proper safety gear, and giving ourselves the best chance of being safe as we can, um, and then going for it,” Raha said.

Raha says the actual jump is the least of his worries.

The impact of landing on a flat surface is what makes this stunt so dangerous.

The current record is 171 feet and was set back in 1974 by stuntman Bob Gill.

FBI: processing is complete of crime and post blast scene in Palm Springs bomb attack

Cynthia White

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KESQ) – FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Joint Terrorism Task Force Amir Ehsaei reported on Friday that the processing of the Palm Springs bombing crime and post blast scene is complete.

The Evidence Response Team and Special Agent Bomb Technicians have been at work and investigating the area since the blast on May 17th at the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic. The FBI pointed out in a statement last week that the evidence indicates the explosion was premeditated and that the attack was an intentional act of terrorism.

In a video statement on X/FBILosAngeles, Agent Ehsaei explained, “We’re here at the Palm Springs explosion site to finish up our evidence gathering. We were here last week where we were able to search and gather evidence for four of the five buildings, the surrounding lots, and also the surrounding area. There was one building left that we had to search that was deemed unsafe, so we came back today, brought the proper equipment, the proper tools, and we’re finishing up our search at the location to try to gather more evidence regarding the explosion.”

In its earlier statement, the FBI asked anyone with information about the explosion or the planning of the attack to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI or provide information online at tips.fbi.gov.

Yuma drag brunch sparks community debate

Adrik Vargas

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A local brewery in Downtown Yuma is making headlines this week, not for a new beer, but for a brunch. And not just any brunch. A drag brunch.

Prison Hill Brewery is getting ready to host its first-ever drag brunch this Sunday at 11 a.m. The event has generated quite the mix of reactions online, especially after the flyer noted it’s open to all ages.

Some folks are excited to see something new and inclusive coming to town. But others are raising eyebrows wondering if drag is something young kids should be around.

“People need to understand what state they live in,” said local resident Chloe Curtis. “But then also, as long as you keep it age appropriate, you can’t have your kids seeing all that.”

Prison Hill owner Chris Wheeler says he stands behind the event and the team who brought it to life.

“My staff brought this idea to me,” Wheeler said. “It was something we hadn’t had before, and I gave them full permission to run with it and organize it…and that’s how it came about.”

He says the brewery has hosted all kinds of events in the past, and this is just another way to bring the community together.

“I like being able to give back to the community,” Wheeler added. “And I think Prison Hill has been a vehicle for me to do a lot of good.”

While debate over the “all ages” detail continues online, others in town say that decision should be left up to parents.

“I saw that a lot of people were saying stuff about the all ages aspect,” said local Kennah Tuffley. “I just feel like if you don’t want your kid to go, then don’t take your kids. It’s not your responsibility to parent other people’s kids.”

Whether you’re excited to attend or just watching the comment section light up, one thing’s for sure: Yuma is definitely talking.

Boone County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam involving fake documents

Katie Greathouse

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office warned residents about a new scam involving fake documents to trick people into sending money.

The Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Friday social media post that the scam involves someone sending fake copies of what appears to be a federal arrest warrant and a “mobile escort orders” document.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is a new tactic that scammers are using. The agency has previously warned about scammers impersonating deputies and trying to collect money over the phone.

Common scams include calling a potential victim and telling that person they missed a court date, failed to pay a fine or disobeyed a court order. The Sheriff’s Office wrote that these scams typically involve “a demand to stay on the phone with them and to send money through a cryptocurrency machine or provide payment in some other way.”

Authorities say they do not call and try to collect money over the phone, and they also do not deal with warrants over the phone.

If you are suspicious of a call, the Sheriff’s Office advises that you hang up. Officials remind residents they should never give out personal information, including credit card and bank account numbers.
